BPF party: “Way out of the crisis is through freedom of expression and free election”

The Belarusian Popular Front Party insists that Belarusian citizens have a right to know the truth about the financial and economic situation of the country, and have possibilities to influence the choice of the ways of response to and recovery from the crisis.

At the session of November 15 the Sojm of the Belarusian People’s party discussed the global financial and economical crisis. The chairman of the Analytic commission of the BPF party Pyotr Sadouski has made a report. A statement was adopted summing up the results of the discussion.

Among other things, the document explains that the a priori amnesty of foreign capital will cause influx of money of doubtful provenance to Belarus. The BPF party worries that these would be finances connected with the organized crime and international terrorism.

The BPF party warns the authorities that in the atmosphere of non-transparency, corruption, absence of legal guarantees law-abiding business of the democratic countries of the world would not be able to compete with the business of Belarus and especially Russia which is controlled by state officials and special services.

Besides, the BPF party insists on the right of citizens to know the truth about the economic situation of the country and have a possibility to politically influence the choice of ways of response to and recovery from the crisis. This right should be guaranteed by mass media and free elections.
