BRYU Scared By Students’ March

Students of the Belarusian State University, who are connected to the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRYU), urge students not to participate in Students’ March on December 2.

A user of VKontakte social network Stanislau Pinchuk has posted an announcement, urging “to support our university,” Nasha Niva writes.

He put a hashtag in the end, and changed his userpic to “I am Part of BSU”. The post had 216 reposts and 337 likes by November 28.

The report of the message has been made simultaneously by activists of the so-called “students’’ government” of the BSU and the BRYU BSU. The administrators of the communities of the residential complexes at all hostels of the BSU were required to make reposts as well.

One of the activists of the BRYU in comments to her repost told how everything happened.

We remind that Belarusian students, who are dissatisfied by imposing fees for repeating of tests and exams, call upon gathering for a march Love and Solidarity on December 2.

The rally is planned in front of the building of the administration of the Belarusian State University, where students invite all the people feeling concern about the situation with students.

The March has gained great attention by the public, as it is the first initiative of a street students’ rally in a long period.

For many years all protest rallies were nipped in the bud, and their initiators were evicted from universities mercilessly. This initiative is the first one after Belarus joined Bologna process.
