Siarhei Antusevich: Future Belongs To Independent Trade Unions
SIARHEI ANTUSEVICH

In the crisis period of the Belarusian economy the role of independent trade unions is increasing.

The current situation of country’s large enterprises is catastrophic: salaries have reduced in the country because of the dollar exchange rate, unemployment goes up, and it’s difficult to find work.

Therefore, the future belongs to independent trade unions, considers the deputy chairman of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions Siarhei Antusevich. He stated this in an interview to Radio Racyja.

– The fear certainly is great. And it’s a big risk to the people who join us. As, basically, if a new organization is being created, not a single employer is interested in that. Therefore, the demand is growing. In times of crisis as we have now, aspirations of people are increasing. And we try to meet their expectations.

According to Siarhei Antusevich, the majority of large enterprises in the country are in need of modernization, and the management of such enterprises, like Hrodna Azot, should listen to the advice of independent trade unions.
