Svetlahorsk activist's threateners still not detected

Police officers did not find people, who threatened the activist Yury Liashenka from Svetlahorsk.

The society activist and the disabled person of the first group received similar responses to the repeated appeals to the District Department of Internal Affairs: Perpetrators were not detected, Viasna Human Right Center reports.

For example, in August 2014 the unknown put a note with threats under the activist's door. Perpetrators were not detected. In the autumn, 2014 and in January 2015 Yury Liashenka received threats to his e-mail. Then an unknown damaged car wheels of the disabled person, and he almost got into an accident. And he repeatedly appealed to the Prosecutor's Office and police.

In March Yury Liashenka received a reply from the local police department about threats by e-mail. "The threatener is not detected. Criminal case denied", the local police informed.

Other answers from the police department about the threats were as follows: "No facts pointing towards actions aimed to attempt your life are established. A person who sent you threats did not make any real actions to carry out his threats".

With regard to the damage to the vehicle, the police said that, according to road traffic regulations, a driver must monitor the state of his vehicle. Yury Lyashenko is outraged by police inaction and is going to appeal the ruling.
