Electronics trade union gains extension of employment contracts for workers of Slonim housing repair and maintenance company

Employment agreements for concierges of dormitories owned by the housing repair and maintenance company in Slonim were extended for three years.

Earlier, the administration wanted to dismiss concierges, but the electronics trade union interfered, praca-by.info learnt from trade union activist Mikhail Sashko.

“The women, some of whom are members of our trade union, signed their employment agreements on Monday. But it's not as good as it may seem. Concierges were offered to sign a duty instruction, under which they now bear responsibility for damages. Their duties also suppose that they must clean the building on weekends. Members of the electronics trade union didn't agree to the new conditions yet. They are going to discuss the issue with the administration,” Mikhail Sashko said.

In late 2014, the electronics trade union gained the cancellation of the order of the Slonim housing repair and maintenance company on laying off about 30 concierges of dormitories. Failed to get protection at the official trade union, the women entered the independent one. They faced pressure, and some of them had to return to the official trade union. Those who didn't agree were transferred to new jobs. The electronics trade union continues struggling against the discrimination of its members and seeks the return of concierges to dormitories.

According to Mikhail Sashko, the official appeal on the issue was filed to the Slonim housing repair and maintenance company by the trade union's leader Henadz Fiadynich. But the company sent a formal reply.

“We have an audio record of applying pressure on the concierges. They were said they could get their previous jobs back if they returned to the official trade union. Even the position of the chairman of the Slonim district executive committee doesn't help here. People think what further steps they can take,” the activist of the electronics trade union says.
