Debt tax will have to be paid

A tax should be paid at a higher 13% income tax rate.

In January-February the budget of Belarus received Br3 billion in the form of income tax, which is paid by citizens who had taken loans for expensive purchases. The Ministry on Taxes and Duties sounded such statistics, tut.by informs.

"Within two months more than Br3 billions of income tax was received". It's more than 160 people", Mikhail Rassolka, the Head of the main Tax Administration of Natural Persons of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties, told.

The new tax was based on Belarusians statement that they often indicated borrowed money as income source.

"In recent years the practice of tax authorities has shown that citizens who were subjected to the preliminary analysis based on obtained income and property declarations, but who had no income and purchased expensive property, as a rule, indicated borrowed money as the income source. A person did not work, at the same time was indebted not only to citizens of Belarus, but foreign citizens and had no money to pay his debts. We got points when foreign citizens granted long period loans – for10 or 15 years", Mikhail Rassolka told.

At the same time Belarusians indicated the exotic countries in their declarations. "In some cases it was not able to be verified. For example, some indicated New Zealand. Iin many cases the information was wrong. It took much time, so that is the reason why this measure has been introduced", the Ministry of Taxes and Duties stressed.

The tax should be paid only by those who have been required income- and expenditure-tax return. Mikhail Rassolka says that loans received last and the year before last are subjected to taxation. By the way, the tax should be paid at a higher 13% income tax rate. As soon as person pays his depts he will receive his tax back.
