Leader of the Union of Poles in Belarus summoned to State Control Committee

Andżelika Borys does not exclude bringing a criminal case against her.

On Monday, March 9, the head of the Council of unrecognized Union of Poles in Belarus must appear for another meeting in the Management of the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee of Hrodna region, Radio Racyja reports.

Earlier, Andżelika Borys appeared there on February 27 this year. During a two-hour conversation the chief inspector Khanko, Ministry of Internal Affairs, suggested that she and her colleagues acted on behalf of an unregistered organization, which the Union of Poles was considered.

In her turn Andżelika Borys believes the police persecuite the Polish national minority. "To preserve his power, Lukashenka will do his best to clean out the field of public freedoms in Belarus," she said.

She does not exclude there may be initiated a criminal case against her under Article 193-1 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (illegal organization and participation in public association). The Article implies penalty for deprivation of liberty for up to two years.
