Kiryl Silivonchyk thanks Belarusians for support

The Belarusian who was detained in Russia met with a lawyer a few hours ago.

Kiryl Silivonchyk admits he violated laws of Russia and says he is ready to serve the term of punishment imposed by the court. Pavel Yukhnevich, an activist of European Belarus civil campaign, wrote it on Facebook.

“He is ready to fight. He was surprised to learn about public attention to his person. He is grateful to all people who worry about his future. He now waits for the transfer to an open-type correctional facility. It may happen any time. I personally respect Kiryl for his position. I think he will be happy to receive letters and telegrams from the people who support him. According to him, he was sentenced for a repost,” he wrote.

Kiryl Silivonchyk was tried in the Moscow region military court in early April. He was sentenced to two years in an open-type correctional facility for his post on a social networking site about solidarity with Ukraine, which was interpreted by the court as “terrorist activity.”
