Gorizont workers put on enforced leave for a month

Workers are being notified about the new schedule of work at their enterprise.

A reader Ihar Ivanou from Minsk told charter97.org about problems at Gorizont plant.

“I am a worker of Gorizont plant. From July 1 till July 30 we are placed on leave, and we will be paid 2/3 of wages. And one of these days we were given notifications like that,” he writes.

“Hereby notifies you of the following: in connection with the seasonal fluctuations of the production level, in order to reduce costs of production, increase products’ profitability, and also maintaining jobs and productive capacity for further increase of production, since August 1, 2015 you are offered the following schedule of work: days-off – August 7, 14, 21, 28; September 4, 11, 18, 25; working days – October 17, 24, 31; November 14, 21, 28; December 12, 19.

From August 1 till December 31 remuneration conditions are to be set as following: a worker is to be paid by the hour for actual hours worked.

The change in the working schedule and the change in the system of payment are changes in the fundamental labour conditions.

I would like to clarify that in case of your denial to continue work under the changed employment conditions, upon expiry of 7 days after you have been familiarized with this notification, in case you will not change your mind, the labour contract will be terminated with you.

In case of your dismissal, you will be paid a dismissal compensation, two-weeks wages,” the document reads.

We remind that recently many enterprises are moved to a shortened week, or make workers apply for unpaid leaves. Thus, in early March the editorial office of charter97.org received complaints from such enterprises as Gomselmash, Asipovichy plant of automobile units, Svetlahorsk plant of concrete products, Babrujsk plant of tractor parts and units, Mogilevtransmash, Strommashina, MTZ, Gomeldrev, Minsk Bearing plant, the Belarusian Railway, Vitebskiye produkty company and others.
