Ukrainian Pilot Tells When Ukrainian Forces Will Finish Off Russian Fleet

The F-16 fighter jets will help.

Literally in three days it became known about the defeat of four Russian ships. This time, Ukraine was hit with missiles, not drones.

Military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, pilot-instructor Roman Svitan told Charter97.org, thanks to which such a powerful blow to the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation became possible:

– Three ships were hit by Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles, aircraft attacks, and one ship was hit by the Neptune missile, a coastal missile system. There were two types of striking elements – cruise missiles and coastal missile system missiles.

– How powerful is this weapon, and why was it the bet on these types of missiles?

— The Storm Shadow/SCALP has a slightly larger warhead, about 450 kilograms, while Neptune has about 300 kilograms.

In terms of power, the Neptune missile is about a third smaller, but it is a land-based coastal missile system, a missile that is used from the ground. In this sense, it is more convenient, because the Russians can only sometimes prepare for the attacks. They see the planes that took off, somehow prepare air defence, and it is more difficult to counter the Neptune missile.

The Storm Shadow/SCALP missile has a guidance system on board, while the Neptune has another. The Neptune missile is more of an anti-ship missile, it is used with anti-ship coastal missile systems, this missile is just designed to destroy ships.

The Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles are air-launched cruise missiles that are designed to destroy fixed targets. The ships were hit because they are in the docks, and were moored, in such situations they can be hit by these missiles, although they are used more for ground targets.

– Previously, Russian ships were hit by sea drones, and now the Ukrainian army uses missiles. What is the reason for this change of tactics?

– Unmanned boats knocked out ships that were at sea. After the Russians realized that they would simply sink into the sea, they hid their ships in the bays. The boat will not enter the bay, because coastal defence systems will not let it. But missiles reach it, so everything depends on the location of the ships. If the Russians go to sea again, they will be destroyed again by boats.

– What are your forecasts for when the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation will cease to exist?

– This year, exactly when Ukraine gets aircraft. If the F-16 appears even in the number of one squadron (and weapons, including anti-ship missiles, will also be transferred), the Russian Black Sea Fleet will be sunk by the end of the year. Wherever it is and completely.

Before the aircraft, I think, several more ships will be destroyed by missiles and unmanned boats. In total, the Russians have about fifty ships left, some of them are in the docks, and some are moored at the berths and are being repaired. These ships can be destroyed before the end of the year, especially with an aviation component.
