New Mass ‘Political’ Trial In Brest

Eight people were in the dock.

Eight people are being tried for participating in a “protest round dance” in Brest in 2020, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports.

In the dock were Mikita Vaitsiuk, Vasil Alaikseiuk, Hleb Klimovich, Vital Varfalameeu, Aliaksandr Tysevich, Yuliya Sharanava, Mikalai Nikitsiuk and Maksim Sobaleu. They are all accused under Part 1 of Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (Active participation in actions that grossly violate public order).

The reason for criminal prosecution was the participation of Brest residents in a “protest round dance” at the intersection of Kasmanautau Boulevard and Masherau Avenue in Brest in 2020. More than 137 people have already been convicted for this action.
