Famous Showman, Entrepreneur Convicted In Homel

For participating in the protests.

On April 30, the Chyhunachny District Court of Homel convicted Yahor Zenchanka, a well-known showman and festival host in the city, accusing him of “organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order, or participating in them” (Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code).

The case was heard by judge Aksana Shaviakova, human rights activists report. The date of Yahor’s detention is still unknown.

Yahor Zenchanka organized and held mass events in Homel. Among them are “The Best Prom”, the closing of the motorcycle season in Palessie, and the City Days in Homel.

The judge punished Yahor with imprisonment for a period of two years under general regime conditions.
