Minsk metro museum may open in April

The Minsk metro museum may go online in April 2015, head of the Minsk Metropolitan Rostislav Yurenya told media on 9 March.

“The construction works have been completed. We are currently working on the exposition. It seems to be the longest creative process,” Rostislav Yurenya said. The exposition will feature symbolic keys, photos, commemorative medals, films and books. “I think in a month we will be able to show the exposition to children, Minsk visitors and others,” he said.

The Minsk metro museum will open in a gallery next to the ticket hall at the Mogilevskaya metro station.

The Minsk metro was opened on 30 June 1984. The metro accounts for almost 40% of passenger transportation in the Belarusian capital. In 2014 the Moscow line transported 56.3% of metro passengers, the Avtozavodskaya line 43.7%. Among the leaders in passenger throughput is the Kamennaya Gorka station (66,200 passengers per day), Lenina Square station (65,800), and Yakub Kolas Square station (56,700).
