Zenit-BelOMO workers forced to take unpaid leave

They have to take an unpaid day off every Friday.

A reader of charter97.org complains about problems at Zenit-BelOMO optics manufacturer.

“I work at Zenit-BelOMO plant in Vileika. We are forced to take unpaid days off every Friday plus two days. But the management does not release any official orders,” he wrote.

Official representatives of the company told charter97.org that workers take unpaid leave voluntary.

“Yes, they take unpaid leave, but it is not our initiative. People do it voluntary. No one makes them do so,” Alena from the personnel department says.

Many companies work short weeks or force workers to take unpaid leaves. In the first days of March, charter97.org received complaints from Gomselmash, the Automobile Units Plant in Asipovichy, the Concrete Products Plant in Svetlahorsk, the Tractor Parts and Units Plant in Babruisk, Mogilevtransmash, Strommashina, the Minsk Tractor Plant, Gomeldrev, the Minsk Bearing Plant, Belarusian Railway, Vitebsk Products company and others.
