American general: Russia can attack Baltic States in three years

It focuses its forces on Ukraine now.

Russia does not have capacity to attack the Baltic States now, but it will be able to do it in three or four years.

It was said by US Army Europe Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges in an interview with Stars&Stripes, Ukrainska Pravda reports.

“This is not the Red Army of the ’80s. They do not have the capacity yet to do what they’re doing in Ukraine,” he noted.

“I think probably three or four years they will have the capacity [to attack the Baltic States]. But they don’t have the capacity to do that now, so I’m not worried about that sort of thing,” Hodges said.

“If you are from that region [the Baltics] you’ll have a completely different view of the seriousness and the credibility of the threat than if you … live in north Florida, where I’m from,” he said.

According to him, the US sent its military for training exercises in the Baltic States on their request to increase NATO's presence in the region.
