Conscript Soldier Died In Pastavy Region

His relatives were told it was suicide.

On March 25, a conscript soldier committed suicide in the Pastavy district. Two unrelated sources told Zerkalo about this. The young man's name was Mikita Litvinovich. He served in the 19th separate guards mechanized brigade, stationed in the village of Zaslonava, Vitsebsk region. In mid-March, the brigade was sent closer to the Lithuanian border as part of a combat readiness check.

Mikita Litvinovich was born in 2003 in the city of Pastavy. In the summer of 2022, he graduated from Pastavy State College with a degree in technical support for agricultural work, operation and repair of automobiles. In the autumn of the same year, the guy was called up for obligatory military service.

The young man ended up in the 19th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade and served as an assistant grenade launcher.

On March 15, 2024, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported that as part of checking the combat readiness of formations and military units, this brigade “will have to go to the designated areas and, after occupying them, be ready to conduct a series of exercises, including live-fire exercises.”

According to the monitoring group “Belaruski Hayun”, the 19th Brigade was supposed to move to the Ashmiany district. However, Mikita Litvinovich’s acquaintances claim that the young man ended up near his native Pastavy, near the agricultural town of Kamai, 10 kilometers from the border with Lithuania.

On March 25, the young man committed suicide.

“The commanders did not tell the parents any details,” the source said. “The father only managed to find out that Mikita, together with his colleagues, “arrived at the point,” went out to smoke and shot himself.

According to our interlocutor, there were no prerequisites for suicide in the guy’s behavior:

— Mikita was a very good person, he always kept a positive attitude. I can't imagine what could have made him commit suicide.

Mikita Litvinovich was buried today, on March 27, in his native Pastavy.

The Ministry of Defense did not officially report anything about this emergency in the unit.
