Vitebsk Products company refuses to pay salary advances

The company prepared a supplement to the employment agreement that all workers must sign.

The company's employees recently complained about the “staff optimisation” and a strange payment schedule: in cash, card payments or refusal to pay bonuses and salary advances.

A reader of charter97.org confirms the reports.

“All workers were said that it was the last time when they received advance salary. Managers also said that we would receive a supplement to our employment contracts, according to which we would receive payment once a month. As far as I know, it is the right of the company to choose the payment schedule. It's clear that the decision was made due to problems. But people have got used to payments twice a month for many years. They now have to review their family budget and schedule for paying loans, utility bills, etc.

Workers have no choice. If you don't agree with the supplement and don't sign it, the agreement is terminated. It is like the words that our bosses like so much 'You are free to quit if you don't like it'. That's the situation we have,” he wrote.

The company declines to comment on the situation.

Many companies work short weeks or force workers to take unpaid leaves. In the first days of March, charter97.org received complaints from Gomselmash, the Automobile Units Plant in Asipovichy, the Concrete Products Plant in Svetlahorsk, the Tractor Parts and Units Plant in Babruisk, Mogilevtransmash, Strommashina, the Minsk Tractor Plant, Gomeldrev, the Minsk Bearing Plant, Belarusian Railway, Vitebsk Products company and others.
